Prentiss Mouton
Tenor
Prentiss, our Resident Tenor, sings his first role with us as Remus in Treemonisha, He made his debut with us in 2013. The 2015 winner of the national George Shirley Competition, Mr. Mouton spent last summer performing in Italy and will graduate in August from Louisiana State University with a bachelor's degree in Vocal Music Performance. He is a native of Memphis, Tennessee.
Prentiss holds a strong background in Musical Theatre, but made his professional debut in The 9th Ward Opera Company's Summer production of George Gershwin's "Blue Monday" in the leading role of Joe at The Marigny Opera House in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has also covered for the role of Alexander in Louisiana State University's Production of "The New Moon", in which he was also a chorus member.
This past year, Prentiss competed in his first NATS Competition for the Southern Louisiana Divisions in Fall and Spring, and received first place in his category both times. He is also a member of the Louisiana State University A Cappella Choir.
Prentiss is under intense vocal and performance study with Baritone Dennis Jesse, Alexander Technique instructor Patricia O'Neil, and acting coach Josh Talley. After receiving his Bachelor's Degree, Prentiss plans to pursue further graduate studies in classical music.
